Has it really been 40 years? 40 years? How is that possible?
Allow me to take you back to the end of the WFB ’73 35th reunion, and the crazy idea of having a 40th Cumberland 8th grade class reunion. It seemed like a good idea (thank you Jackie and Ellie for thinking of it), but for the longest time, it looked like the only people attending would be the 9 of us on the committee. (Which, quite frankly, would have been ok with us, especially the out-of-towners, as long as there was a fish fry on the agenda!) Then, all of a sudden, there were 12 people coming. Then 15, 20, 30, 40, and then some of our teachers agreed to join us. We ended up with nearly half our class attending the reunion. I only wish that everyone could have been there to experience the joy and laughter we shared on that weekend.
We, the members of your reunion committee, have been overwhelmed with the heart-felt comments from our classmates and our teachers. We thought that it would be fun, in this era of technology, if we could have a home for all the photos, comments, and memorabilia from the reunion. This site is a work in progress, and hopefully will take on a life of its own as time goes on. We are open to new ideas, your comments and stories, and plan to continuously update this home for and from our collective memories. Please share this site with your families and friends this holiday season, and encourage those of our classmates that were unable to attend to visit this site often.
Please send us your reunion photos so that we can post them as soon as possible. If you have memorabilia from “back in the day” please photograph them, or scan them so that we can add them to our own Class of 1969 museum.
I hope you enjoy this website and at the risk of having anyone think that I actually can read, I’d like to borrow from Mr. Dickens who said it far better than anything I could possibly come up with:
“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief”………
I’ve got to run; Keith Tucker and I have to get the Ness twins' tandem back in their garage before they figure out it’s gone! Enjoy the website!
